Scaling & Polish:

A basic scaling and polishing removes plaque, tartar, calculus and stains to bring back your fresh and bright smile. This process also enables us to better examine the state of your teeth for any other discrete problems such as leaky fillings, swollen tissues, or cracks that may require more attention.

A scaling procedure involves removing all the plague and tartar (hardened plaque) above and below the gumline, making sure to clean till the bottom of the pocket using an ultrasonic cleaning instrument. If left to accumulate, the plaque and tartar will store bacteria that would lead to decay and gum disease.

After scaling is finished, we then perform polishing of the teeth to remove any external stains and smooth out their surfaces. Our dentist do this either by using a rotating brush with cleaning paste or an air-powder spray for tougher stains. The  result of this is smooth, clean and glossy teeth.
